Knocking things down and blowing up green pigs is what it is all about in this video game by Rovio Entertainment. Those nasty green pigs have taken the angry bird's eggs and it is up to you and your furious feathered friends to get them back.

This game is fun, if slightly addicting. It has several spinoffs and themed variations to choose from and promotes problem solving and creative thinking in its nonlinear gameplay. I play this game as much as my son does.

When some greedy pigs steal eggs from a group of birds, the birds get angry. To get revenge on the pigs and rescue the eggs, the birds are loaded in a slingshot and fired at the pigs. The pigs are stacked in what look like building blocks. When the blocks are knocked over, and the pigs fall hard enough, the level is completed. There are several different colors of birds. Each bird has a different "power". Some break apart into three different birds. Some turn into a bomb. Others drop an egg bomb. Another color of bird when tapped suddenly accelerates. The game is somewhat addicting. Although I originally downloaded the game for my ex's 7-year-old son to play, I have spent countless hours playing this game myself. Some younger kids may have difficulty playing the game. As the levels progress, destroying all of the pigs gets more difficult. Kids with more experience playing games will have fewer troubles. Though this is an entertaining game, there are also some educational elements to it that address trajectory and force. There are occasionally short scenes between levels that tell more of the story. This adds to the entertainment value. With all of the marketing of Angry Birds, this app is likely well-known among children. For inquiring parents, I would recommend it as an entertaining app that requires some thinking. For free or for a small price of $.99 (depending on the version of Angry Birds), there are a lot of levels to complete, meaning, if one has to pay for it, it is well worth the cost. However, a downside to the free version is that there are adds. Children may accidentally tap on the add and then get taken out of the game. Sometimes the noises of the birds can get annoying, but there is the option to turn the sound off within the game. Despite the problem with adds, this is still a solid game.… (mais)
