The early history of Western Australia was strongly associated with the Dempster family. Although not so well known today, they rose from a single seagoing migrant who married into the Pratt family. Raising a score of children, many went on to hold leadership positions in public institutions: the Legislative Council through to turf clubs. They were pioneers in Northam and especially the Esperance areas.
This books is very detailed account of their lives. Using lots of letters, they give voice to many of the Dempsters of that period.… (mais)

This gives an account of how Rica became interested in natural history. This volume is a complement to her writings and drawings and an insight into a remarkable and inspirational life.
