One's feelings are compared to the different kinds of weather (sunny, stormy, rain, etc.) with tears being the rain. Feelings are meant to be felt and they come and go like the weather. Backmatter for caregivers and educatiors describes a mindfulness game of creating weather reports to help understand and navigate feelings.
Not only explains crying but feelings in general. Has a section for adults at the end.
