2. Write the summary of the book.

On the 27th of October, 2005, Hurricane Katrina caused hundreds of millions of dollars of damage and killed many people.
New Orleans is built on land that sits 6 feet below sea level. Government officials told the more than 460,000 residents of New Orleans to leave the city. There was no plan for people who did not have a car or enough money to leave the city out in time. As the hurricane approached, thousands of people were still inside New Orleans. All along the coast, people prepared for what experts were forecasting to be one of the worst storms to ever hit the area.

3. Write your feelings about the book in details.

Hurricane Katrina took more than 3,000 lives. Some of these people might have been saved if the state and federal government had been better prepared. Officials are working hard to make sure that the next time a natural disaster strikes, they'll be ready(See p 39).

It is hard to be prepared before the disaster happen.

4. Write the words, phrases or sentences that impressed you most in the book and explain why they impressed you. Or you could write your questions about the book.

The rising water flooded levees―strong walls to keep the city dry―in New Orleans, Louisiana. This sent millions of tons of water into the city streets(See p 5).

The flooded of the levees means a huge amount of water would be supplied(See p 5).

While we may not know what life could have been for the Native Americans, we do know that the transcontinental railroad brought many positive changes for America since the regular train service on the transcontinental road started on May 15, 1869. The American economy grew tremendously as the cost of transporting good fell. It helped the country grow as settlers moved west to build homes and businesses. America became move united overnight.

3. Write your feelings about the book in details.

They worked hard and did not complain. Strobridge soon hired more Chinese workers. By the time the transcontinental railroad was completed, almost twelve thousand Chinese workers worked for the Central Pacific(See p 22).

Although they were paid less than the white workers, they worked hard without complaining.

4. Write the words, phrases or sentences that impressed you most in the book and explain why they impressed you. Or you could write your questions about the book.

In response, many Native Americans raided the railroad camps, killed men, stole cows, bend the tracks, and did anything else they could to try to stop the railroad from being built.

It's a result of taking land from the Native Americans.
