About the Author
Carrie Fisher was born in Beverly Hills, California on October 21, 1956 to singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds. At the age of 15, she played a debutante in the Broadway musical Irene and appeared in her mother's Las Vegas nightclub act. At the age of 17, she appeared in her first movie, mostrar mais Shampoo. Her other movies include Hannah and Her Sisters, When Harry Met Sally, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. She was best-known for her portrayal of Princess Leia in the Star Wars movie franchise. Her first novel, Postcards from the Edge, was awarded the Los Angeles Pen Award for Best First Novel. Her other books include Surrender the Pink, Delusions of Grandma, Shockaholic, Wishful Drinking, and The Princess Diarist. She wrote the screenplay for the movie Postcards from the Edge. This is a fun, and quick, read. It's fun reminiscing about the "good old days" of Star Wars and reading about it through the lens of Carrie Fisher. Her take on the comic-con scene was fun too. The downside of the book is that it makes me miss her ... even if I never knew her.
Started out not liking it... ended up loving it. Saw a lot of myself in my 20's in it.
Although I think that Carrie really didn’t have mental illness, I think that she just took drugs to often when she was young Jundt into a bad mental health condition. Then, instead of quitting recreational drugs, she merely mixed in psychiatric drugs. This in a lack of self-care led to her early death, and surely there is a lesson for all of us to learn from the wisdom of Carrie Fisher. I’m not sure she was actually bipolar. I think it was a side effect of recreational drugs, which she never did quit for any longer than 11 months of her life when they claim that she was sober and this was the happiest time of her life, but if she was so happy at that time, why did she relapse?… (mais)
