This is a medical memoir about a baby born at barely 23 weeks gestational age, barely on the cusp of viability. All the medical details of the baby's fight for life are here, but this is really a book about character and emotion. The story is told in alternating chapters by Kelley (wife/mother) and Thomas (husband/father) in brutally honest language, although at the time the events were unfolding they weren't always honest with each other. Both parents are journalists, and they are both beautiful writers. The book is well worth reading for their writing alone, but the story of their daughter is compelling and informative.… (mais)
