How to Be Human: Diary of an Autistic Girl por Florida Frenz
Florida has Autism and while she is human, she feels more Alien. This funny and touching story is presented as an instruction manual on how to be a human. It provides understanding and insight into how Autism affects those who have it. It is a very sweet and funny story written by a young girl who has Autism herself. I highly recommend that anyone going into education read this book.

The book is a dairy about an autistic girl, who is just trying to lead a normal life. The book goes to show how she viewed the world around her, and how she felt during different stages of her development, which made the book very engaging to me since I work with kids who are autistic. Later on in the diary the girl learns that she is not an alien after all, she is just different, and that everyone can be an alien in their own unique way. This will be a great book to read in a social study class to encourage acceptance of others, and that everyone is special in his/her own way.… (mais)

It portrays the disorder for what it is, someone who is human on the outside, but completely foreign on the inside. Many things have to be learned differently, you have to learn certain things that are otherwise common knowledge or just come naturally.

Florida's take adds insight to anyone exploring the full range of humanity. And her art is interesting, too.
