This is a difficult book to review. It's very well written but the type of book it is changes a number of times. I think it's most effective when it's written as a story for young children. Geraci has a deft touch with his characters and the book is often quite touching and poignant. The political aspect is a bit heavy-handed but if you're a conservative Christian this might be a good book for your kids.

It's never explained if the adventures really happen or are just the result of her hitting her head or something (the adventures start with her riding on a giant shark which resembles the truck her foster parents drive) like that but it hardly matters to the story. The ultimate conclusion seems to be that you should be nice to others but don't trust liberals. However it's the wonderful characters and landscapes that Curia encounters that makes this book so interesting. Unless you have a fairly thick skin, it's not recommended for atheists and liberals.… (mais)
