Saving a few of these essays until I read the source material, but the bulk of it I read -- and was blown away by the challenge as well as the rigor of the craft essays and insight of the criticism -- want to read his fiction.

A brilliant collection of essays. Want to dig into Glover's work a bit deeper, he has a rare balance of technical understanding of fiction along with a clear, abiding love for the art.

This was a miss for me. The stories, I found, were not that interesting in this collection. While there were a few nice turns of phrases, some settings that were unique, and some twists of plot that I liked-- overall, it did not meet my expectations of great writing. I was left feeling disappointed. Best Canadian Stories 00 was the better collection by far.

2 stars-- worth skipping.

An absolutely enthralling and engaging collection. Although I've read Alice Munro's stories, (there is one in the collection,) these tales permeate with life and truth. They are all greatly written and the level of expression that is emphasized is impressive.

4 stars!
