Zen Combat is the first comprehensive guide to the Oriental arts of attack and defense-from the bare hand techniques of Karate and Aikido to stick fighting, archery and the sword fighting skills of the samurai warrior.
With Mass Oyama and other Japanese masters, the American author and karate expert Jay Gluck has studied all the Japanese fighting arts and he describes them here with more than 100 detailed illustrations.

Originaly written as a series of magazine articles in the fifties, the book is not entirly accurate. It is a good overview of several Martial arts traditions. The author covers all styles of martial arts. Covers everything from Aikido to Zen. Gluck does a very good job of conveying the passion for martial arts that he has. This book is a good read, and would be great for those thinking of starting the Martial Arts.
