I'm only halfway through, but I thought I would enjoy this book more. Part of the problem is it seems odd to read the biography of someone alive, not yet 40, who hasn't really done much. Okay, a talented young actor gets some good breaks and now works constantly. So what? It's also really poorly written; the author meanders all over the place in no particular sequence, interspersing all manner of irrelevancies. And it reads like gossip. I don't get the sense that the author has ever even met his subject, only talked about him with people who sort of know him, gone through his mail, read about him online, that sort of thing.

I'm aware that David Tennant is a very private person, and as such it must have been difficult to write his biography. My suggestion to this author would have been not to try. Leave the man alone, and let him tell his story when HE'S ready.

I will probably finish it, and give it a chance to prove me wrong. Or I may not be able to bring myself to pick it up again. We'll see.… (mais)
