Surreal. Makes me think of The Treachery of Images" http://collections.lacma.org/sites/default/files/remote_images/piction/ma-318240.... Funny & cute, but more. Would be great springboard to spark philosophical discussions about identity & reality among children we normally think of as too young for such. I would use it in college, in Philosophy 101."

A fun story about a duck that thinks it's a cat. It kills mice, plays with a ball of yarn, curls up in front of the fire for a snooze. Will it ever realize it is a duck? It even purrs like a cat. When it finally comes to it senses the next day there is a new surprise that awaits the little girl at the front door.

This book is about a duck who follows a girl around all day long. He tries to be different kinds of animals because the girl tells him to. This is a cute little book for young children. I do not really feel it has a lesson to teach, so it would be good for just reading time.
