Nice. I liked this a lot better than [b:Black Occult Macabre Vol. 1 Issue 7|22920102|Black Occult Macabre Vol. 1 Issue 7|Scott Hale|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1411760532s/22920102.jpg|42487439] even though the other had a lot more weirdness going on.

What can I say? I love it when stories move smoothly. I love it more when smooth stories move on horribly grotesque and brutal scenes of nightmare, and still remain a smooth story. Even with all the fleshy fronds and gore strewn basements, it was still damn easy to get into Beatrice's character.

I hate student loans, too, but honestly, they're probably the most horrific part of this whole story. ;) No. Seriously. Anything that might turn a bright young girl like this into a starving babysitter has got to be EVIL.

Even so, so much happens in a short time, and anyone who reads this will NOT have to wait long before everything goes to utter hell.

I was surprised by the end. I SERIOUSLY didn't expect that. No Way.

After all that? Hell no.

Did it please? Oh yes. Just like a Jawbreaker, sweet and oh so dangerous. Chomp.

:)

So. Someone just got eaten by a god.

That's right! It's ME!

Scott Hale has consistently blown me the f*** away with his horror. I'm especially thrilled when he dives into the epic dystopian landscape of our modern world twisted by the Trauma. These novels are some of the most wickedly subversive and massively wicked epic-fantasy twists I've ever read. And that's saying a lot.

It also says a lot that the most heartwarming scene in the novel is a small child running through a hallway draped with freshly flensed skin, dripping various gore, and the caretaker sees absolutely nothing wrong with picking the kid up and cooing at it. What a sweet child. :)

Or when our most heroic heroes regularly dine on fresh human flesh and we learn real heroism from a walking, talking skeleton. (See [b:The Three Heretics|47196957|The Three Heretics|Scott Hale|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1564101966l/47196957._SY75_.jpg|51294699]). All gods in these books are EEEEVVVVIIIIILLLL. After reading this, you'll think Cthulhu is a sweet cuddly bunny with a tooth problem.

VIVA LA WORM!

Or, as Scott briefly had in his blurb, "DEICIDE"

Sums it up nicely, since this book is going to put some GODS TO BED. :) :) Epic battles, horrific societies, and that are just the normal people. Just wait till you see the horrorshow that's all monsters and blood and warped realities. :)

SO FREAKING AWESOME!

If there's ANY author more deserving of getting a huge bump in popularity, they're going to have to wait in line behind Scott Hale! :) Seriously. This guy is the BOMB.
