A long family saga, showing the less pleasant sides of village life, although there was no gratuitous violence. Some sympathetic characters, but rather complex plots. Kate, an adopted foundling from Ireland, dominates the second half of the book and eventually finds happiness after a lot of tragedy and confusion.

Not terribly inspiring but I kept reading.

Edwina, rathre a misfit in her family in the early 1900s, goes to a convent school and befriends the temperamental Fanny. The book is about Edwina growing up and uncovering family secrets. It's a bit muddled in places but fast-moving and readable, with an unexpected and satisfying ending.

A long saga novel covering three generations. A necklace known as the 'Waterfall' features, thought not extensively. There were rather too many characters for easy light reading, and some distinctly unpleasant scenes. The ending was all right, but rather unbelievable. A muddled style of writing throughout, with unfinished sentences. All in all, not recommended.
