Brodie's Notes on F. Scott Fitzgerald's 'The Great… por Graham Handley
As with all of the Brodie's Notes series of books, this is a detailed analysis of the novel "The Great Gatsby", including of F. Scott Fitzgerald and the his larger body of work, the plot of the novel and its background setting, etc.

What I found interesting was the discussion of the 1974 film adaptation starring Robert Redford in the title role, and how it compares to the novel. I wonder if it will be updated to the 2013 Baz Luhrmann version in due course?

The central discussion in this book is of Style And Its Effects in "The Great Gatsby", which together with the as usual excellent discussion of the novel's characters, chapter summaries and textual notes, make this an excellent resource for any student studying the novel.… (mais)

Gaskell's " Sylvia's Lovers " (Notes on English… por Graham Handley
This is an excellent book and the analysis of the characters and action of the novel is superb.

I was delighted to come across another reader feeling the same cynicism about the opportunistic Charley Kinraid as I do myself (not that I go a bundle on Philip Hepburn, either; they're two sides of the same coin).

Recommended.
