Will Harlan will visit City Lights Bookstore on Friday, February 6th at 6:30 p.m. to read from and sign his biography Untamed: The Wildest Woman in America and the Fight for Cumberland Island. The book looks at the life of Carol Ruckdeschel, a self taught scientist, who for forty years studied and defended the sea turtles and the surrounding wilderness of Cumberland Island. This national park on the Georgia coast is the country’s largest and most biologically diverse barrier island. Untamed reveals the determined efforts of a woman to protect a wilderness she loves. Will Harlan is the editor-in-chief of Blue Ridge Outdoor Magazine and an award winning journalist. He has written for National Geographic Adventure and appeared in Sports Illustrated and on Oprah. He lives on a farm in the mountains of North Carolina.
