The plot is very well constructed, somewhat detailed and there are many unexpected twists.
I find the flavor of the thinking and the technology and way of life of the 1920s, when the author lived, brings an added flavor to the exciting story.
I am long past a young adult but enjoyed the book immensely. I rank this story with the quality of the Mark Twain stories.
At 409 pages, the book might be a very long read for those young adults of today, but it is so good, I think they would finish it once started.
There are a few line drawings to illustrate pivotal moments.
The author, Schulkers, wrote many other books in the "Seckatary Hawkins" series but I have not read them so do not know if this high ranking would apply to the others..… (mais)
