I really liked this book because it sends a message of empowerment to the readers. I like that the book started with "America's history has always been marked by wars", because that is the truth. America has had so many wars, and for most of them women weren't allowed to enlist because they didn't think we were "strong enough." Luckily that isn't the case anymore. Genre: biography/historical fiction This book introduces different stories of the seven brave women who lived in the war. The importance of this book is to remind the reader to celebrate the women in history who may not have fought in a great battle, but had just as brave and amazing lives that are worth passing down to younger generations.
I will use it for lower elementary and put it in classroom library.
