Paige has discovered her husband, Aaron, is having an affair with his colleague, Cara Morton. He has promised he is going to break it off. But, it does not go as he planned and their lives are changed forever.

These characters and their choices made me want to Gibbs slap each and every one. Everyone of them are keeping secrets and it just might cost all of them!

This is a 3 and 1/2 star read…rounded up. This is twisty and intense. It has just been done several times and it is not a very unique storyline.

The narrator, Rachel Handshaw, did a very good job. I enjoyed her cadence. She also had some great voices for the characters.

Need a good, twisted tale of marriage…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today.

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

'The Company You Keep' introduces Kendra Clayton, a part time teacher at a literacy centre. When she discovers her best friend's sleazy boyfriend has been murdered she is questioned by the police. Naturally, Kendra comes under some suspicions, particularly when her best friend requests her help in keeping some information secret from the police. My main beef with some of these murder mysteries is when the police are made to come across as inept and the main protagonist goes where angel's fear to tread because of their determination to solve the crime(s). Of course do not forget a little love interest along the way. I probably will not search for more in this series.

I must be brutally honest when I first started reading this book I was so done with this book after just a few chapters. In fact, I put the book aside and walked away from it with no plans to pick it up again. Yet, as I was looking for a book to read I came across this book again. I decided to try it again because when I read the summary I did want to read this book. So, I picked it up but without much excitement. Something changed and I found myself getting into the story and Xavier.

So if you are thinking about checking this book out be warned that it does start out a little slow but it gets better as you keep reading. I felt for Xavier. This is a good thing as it means I was invested in him and his mission. Also, I thought the story was dark but not so dark that those who like cozy mysteries would not like this book and fans of paranormal novels will enjoy this book as well.… (mais)
