Jacqueline Hériteau was born in France at the Chateau de l'Enardière in the Vendée. Her mother was Scots-Canadian, her father French. She lived in Paris in winter and Canada in summer, and after World War II attended the Sorbonne. In her father's village, Les Sables d'Olonne, the family was noted for its cuisine, for which all vegetables and fruits were gathered fresh-grown from the family garden -- so Jacqueline came naturally to an appreciation of gardening and fine food.

Professionally, Jacqueline has been Women's Editor for a Montreal newspaper and radio station, for two New York public-relations publications, for Precis magazine, and for Central Feature News. Her articles and short stories have appeared in widely distributed Canadian and U.S. magazines, including Chatelaine, Parents magazine, Better Homes & Gardens, and House Beautiful.

Very useful resource. I particularly like the month-by-month sections.

A wonderful book for tomato lovers. Though written 30 years ago it is still a great reference.

This cookbook is the first one to which I refer when planning a soup. I have made many of the recipes and each one has been a delicious success. It contains most traditional soups, chowders and stews, as well as some less common options.
