This is a book of historical information with some excellent recipes. The three chapters are Roman Originals and British Tart Baking Before 1700, Eighteenth adn Nineteenth Century Tarts and Twentieth Century Tarts - each with sections on savoury and sweet. Not each recipe is illustrated but there are quite a number of colour photos.
Still a useful catalogue of problems and some answers, though the social scene has changed greatly since it was published. Various publications of "Miss Manners" (Judith Martin) are a sensible adjunct, since the USA has been dealing with the problems of serial marriages and non-marriages for longer than the UK.
