William Holstein

GM was hoping the bailout would save them when this book was printed; it has filed for bankruptcy protection and is "re-imerging" as I read it. Holstein's book is a very interesting behind-the-scenes look at the the US automobile industry -- noticeably admirable of GM. I came away thinking it mattered that the US have a major manufacturing industry and the scientific knowledge behind it (perhaps even more important), but not all that convinced that GM, per se, needs to be in the mix.
