This book would be good for intermediate students. This book is "Two New Years" by Richard Ho, illustrated by Lynn Scurfield, published in 2023. This book is about family that is celebrating both of their parents culture; Jewish and Chinese. It talks about how these cultures can come together and can both be celebrated. It talks about the specific traditions both of these cultures partake in on both of their new years. This would be a great book to have in a classroom to celebrate the students that are from multicultural families and to make sure that they feel as if they have a place in the classroom.… (mais)

Utilizing the story of Jeremy Lin as an impressive example, this simple book brings real encouragement to those who have experienced the feelings brought on by others continually saying "you can't do that" to you.
The illustrations by Huỳnh Kim Liên and Phùng Nguyên Quang are clear, imaginative, colorful, and representative.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school, hospital, or your local public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from the Charlesbridge via NetGalley. Thank you!

A multicultural family celebrates two new years: Rosh Hashanah in the fall and Lunar New Year in the spring. The holidays have different geographical and religious origins, but they have a lot of similarities too.

Several pages of back matter include an author's note, a visual glossary, and questions about "how do YOU celebrate?"

Illustrations rendered in ink on mineral paper, collaged digitally.
