I gave up after the first couple of pages, it started up as a bunch of complaints about her husband and life. No thanks.

Aimee Horton has delivered a witty and humorous look at motherhood through Mothers Ruined.

Dottie has moved to a new neighbourhood and wants to be part of the group of mothers, in her street, that meet for morning tea. This whole scenario was so relatable and took me back to my own time with young children, when all the mothers would take turns at morning tea. And there was always that one person that loves to gossip.

Aimee Horton has a clear eye for picking out the embarrassing and frustrating parts of motherhood and making them funny. I found myself often laughing at scenes I could totally relate to.

At the centre of the story is a baby monitor which Dottie buys to hear her new babies cries but she soon realises that she can also hear the neighbours through their monitors. Dottie becomes obsessed with listening to the neighbours but something she hears causes a personal dilemma and her eavesdropping obsession starts to impact on her life.

I enjoyed Mothers Ruined, it was a quick, light read that I found hard to put down.

I really enjoyed reading this story which is so funny. It starts out with Dottie rushing to the maternity hospital ready to birth her third child. She has just moved into a new neighborhood and her husband is in Scotland on business.
Her baby monitor lets her tune into the neighbors conversation and she gets involved. There funny situations with the neighbors, friends and her children. An easy fun read l recommend.
