About the Author
Derek Hough was born on May 17, 1985. He began dancing at age eleven and moved to London a year later to live and train with the top dance coaches in the world and attend the Italia Conti Academy. He is a professional ballroom dancer on the ABC show Dancing with the Stars. He has won the show five mostrar mais times. I picked this up on a lark, since I am participating in a local fundraiser DWTS competition. I am so glad I did. I learned a great deal about life and outlook, positivity, bravery, and just going for it. Derek doesn't waste time or space, and just as on the dance floor, he's a force to behold. Very inspirational. Kudos and best of luck to you.
I enjoy watching Derek on Dancing withe Stars so I knew I wanted to read this book. It did not disappoint me. It is full of energy and high spirited as he is.
My wife and I, being longtime DWTS fans have often remarked that Derek Hough is an excellent choreographer and he has even won an Emmy for choreography. So I was surprised when he admitted in this book that when he started on DWTS, he had never choreographed or taught dance. I also found the part about his time living with the Ballas family quite interesting. Though his parents have been criticised for allowing him to go, without that opportunity he would likely not have had his great success and may even have continued on a destructive path. I am impressed by the insights on being a leader and really enjoyed the book

The life advice parts were kind of cheesy. The mentions of ladies seemed forced (ahem), but I really enjoyed the Hough family history and all the DWTS stories. He's also one of the most driven people I've ever read. It's inspiring.
