I liked the others in this series but this one seemed a little slow. Lots of focus on the romantic relationships to the point where the mystery stalled out a bit.

Murder at a craft fair. Lia Geiger is dealing with some change; her daughter has moved back in and has some supplies for the Alpaca Farm's festival in her house. There's a link between the new murder and an older murder become apparent over time.
Honestly it felt like someone who had done some very basic knitting research and decided that they were going to get on the knitting bandwagon. It wasn't a bad read but I felt like something was lacking in the story. Granted this isn't the first story in the series and I'm probably missing some things but most series like this don't depend that much on reading all the books in the series.… (mais)

alpacas, amateur-sleuth, cozy-mystery, craft-fair, family, former-nurse, friction, friendship, knitting, law-enforcement, murder, murder-investigation, Pennsylvania, reenactors, rural, series, small-business, small-town, widow, framed, *****

Bayonets can be lethal.
The hooks for me were knitting, alpacas, retired nurse, cozy mystery, and reenactors.
The crafters are at a reenactment when Mr Despicable is found murdered. That is the beginning of this complex case involving a lot of people who are not what they seem to be. Lots of interesting characters, beautiful descriptions, a fantastic plot twist or two, and a slew of red herrings. Loved it!
I requested and received a free EARC from Berkley Publishing Group via NetGalley. Thank you!

Callie Reed is looking forward to her first Keepsake Cove spring festival. But her excitement dims considerably when she learns that her ex-boyfriend, Hank, will be performing with one of the hired country-western bands. Callie vows to keep her distance, but that changes when the band's manager, Bobby Linville, is found dead, killed with the music box Hank bought at Callie's shop.

Hank is soon singing a sad tune in a detention center with Callie his only lifeline. Though thoroughly aware of his many faults, she knows violence and murder aren't in his blood. But that means one of her fellow Keepsake Cove residents must be hiding a dark secret--something Callie desperately needs to uncover.

I honestly had a hard time reading this book. There were so many new characters introduced so quickly that I had difficulty keeping track. The plot seemed to drag on, as well.
