FINALLY, these guys get together!

Continuity Issues: Nathan's wife's name changed from "Cassandra/Cassie" in book 1 to "Davina" in this book. Also, Sally-Ann Williams, in previous books, becomes Sally-Ann Matthews in this book. Dropped a half star.

First time listening to this narrator. Excellent!

This first book is not really a romance although there are hints of a future love interest.

I have read this series so out of order, but it doesn't seem to matter. I did have the good sense to read book 1 first. I didn't like Blake Harte to begin with. He seemed rough and rude to everyone and condescending to those that only wanted to help him, even to Harrison who had a major crush on him from day one. As their relationship has grown, he's mellowed a bit. I know that Blake has been trying give Harrison time to recover from his prior relationships....and he's had quite a few. Blake also has to find an emotional conclusion to his feelings about Nathan, his last ex. I would think that enough time has passed that Harrison would to be more secure in the person he has become. He really needs take a deep breath and accept that he is worth being loved. This author seems to be progressively better with each book in this series. The mystery is well written and this one is for lack of a better word, clever. As I have said, the romance needs a little work. I can't imagine why someone hasn't turned these books into a great mystery series for TV.… (mais)

The story could easily be a stand-alone, but the town and its people are all set up for repeat performances as the series goes forward. To get an idea of the lead character, try to imagine Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple as a thirty-year-old heartbroken gay man, and you’ll get the idea. If you like trying to solve the crime, you’ll find that this is a clever locked room mystery...and good luck solving this one. I did find all the characters a tad too abrupt and almost unlikable. I’m going to go for another one, but hope that Harte especially, will become a bit more centered and calmer.… (mais)
