I received this book from LibraryThing early reviewers or member giveaway, I don't recall exactly which one. What I can I say, this book was not the greatest. Many times it seemed to jump from one thought pattern to another without making any sense and contained many editing errors. The premise of the book was somewhat interesting, but the poor editing made it very hard to finish.

I received this book "The End of the Lane", a (Claire Lane Mystery Number One) by MK Jacobs, from the Library Thing Early Review Program. This book concerns Claire Lane, who is a professor of mathematics at a university in London. One night, a rainy stormy night, she was on her way home from a nearby estate. She slipped and fell into a flooded drainage ditch. As she was getting out of the ditch, she became entangled with a corpse. She got untangled, returned to the estate and called the police. The next morning, she returned to the location where she had found the body, and watched as the police removed it and identifying it as a neighbor and friend, Captain Lionel Fennings, who had been reported missing and presumed killed during the First World War, some eight years previously. She also meets Lord Ralph McGuinnes, a police inspector who prefers not to be identified as a Lord.
This story continues with Claire, using her mathematical and reasoning skills to guide a seemingly uninformed and incompetent police inspector through various developments, most of which are bordering on the unbelievable or unlikely. The plot is confusing in its progression and thankfully not too long. I found it difficult to keep an interest in and although surprised at the outcome, did not enjoy it.

Action/Adventure like Clive Cussler is a guilty pleasure of mine and this falls right up with his best. It's the new must read for lovers of the genre
