Donna Jarrell

I found most of the essays in this anthology very interesting. The timing was perfect on the story, "The Man Who Couldn't Stop Eating." At the time I read it, my husband was just beginning preparations for weight loss surgery. We both found the essay thought-provoking and encouraging with regard to his having the surgery. It was painful for me to read the essay "Fat Like Him." I even set the book aside for a day or two before I finished it. "On Being Invisible" highlighted a phenomena I have experienced but never named. I don't know what a normal weight reader would think of the book, but I believe that nearly all obese readers would find both encouragement and challenge.… (mais)
