This one is for sure my absoulte favorite of the bunch. I have never read anything by Abby Jimenez but now I really feel like I have to. I have no idea how she did it but somehow in just 60 pages she creates this beautiful story. One that makes you laugh and cry all at once. The characters are so well written and a lot of fun. Even though we have the serious impending death of her grandmother the story is full of so much joy and love. The writing is perfection and the jokes are the best I've read in a long time. I honestly was just in awe of this story. It had all the things you could need, the cute little notes passed back and forth. The chance meetings. The cutest story possible.… (mais)

This was a nice story from Abby Jimenez that is part of a collection of stories/novellas from popular romance authors. As with Abby's full length books, there is an emotional back story where at least one of the main characters is dealing with some heavy stuff, but there is also the lightness of the meet-cute to balance it out. I would have loved more at the end to give me a peek into the future of the couple, but I understand the limitations of writing a short story rather than a full length book.… (mais)

Worst Wingman Ever is the second in a themed series of novellas focusing on meet-cutes that are improbable. In this novella by Abby Jimenez, a misplaced note on a car sparks romance between two strangers before they ever meet. But have they already met?

Holly is a hospice nurse, come home to look after her grandma. She spends the days with her grandma and family with next to nothing else going on. One day she finds a Valentine’s Day note on her windscreen which is definitely not hers. But then the ‘worst wingman ever’ leaves another note, apologising for his mistake which starts a series of notes and small kindnesses. John is helping his brother renovate his apartment while taking on a new job as a superintendent at an apartment block. It’s not what he expected and small joys like the notes brighten his day.

There is a lot of emotion running through this short book. Happy times, sad times and some hilarious times (tool colours- although I don’t think this is universally true, how to pick up a guy at the hardware store). It has a mainly light tone and the story overall is one of optimism. A longer story about these characters and their families would work equally as well, but somehow it’s all packaged up so nicely and neatly that you feel you get the full picture. It’s an easy read for one sitting, and a good introduction into Jimenez’s writing.

This is my first read by the author and I couldn’t put it down. I enjoy romance stories but this one was so much more. Alexi Montgomery, a doctor, gets stuck in a small town and meets Daniel Grant and sparks fly. They are from two entirely different worlds but they cannot keep away from one another and fall in love. How do two people go through life without each other? Or do you somehow find a way to make it work. I look forward to reading more from this author.
