This book goes through a whole variety of mental disorders, nervous disorders, physical disorders, their causes possible treatments. It's largely just a summary of these things. Most of the time I just skimmed through. It's helpful if you think you may have some kind of disorder, and you're trying to narrow down whether you think you do or not, and get an idea of what kind. For example, social anxiety disorder.
Since we have such a crappy health system in the United States, that is just there to make money off of us, many of us go to the internet now for our medical diagnosis. I do this, and for my dogs, but I also go to books.
Things I learned:
1. My mom probably had general anxiety disorder. Two of the symptoms that she displayed of this disorder was:
--worry very much about everyday things
--having trouble controlling their worries or feelings of nervousness.
2. Borderline Personality Disorder is hard to diagnose, hard to treat, and I believe doctor's often diagnose it in error.
3. I learned that the type of bipolar disorder that my brother had was bipolar disorder II.
