Joshua Simpson and Alex Maybury have been best friends for just about forever. They’ve just graduated Purdue University. In Indigo Road, the two friends take a year off and travel the United States in an indigo VW they call Maude, before they settle into work life. Along the way they meet many interesting people, situations and discover much about themselves and each other. This story is told in first person through Josh’s eyes.

First, I want to mention that I really like the cover. It conveys the feelings of the story and the color is pleasantly subtle.

The story is written in first person and I don’t usually like first person but the author did a good job with Josh’s voice. In fact, even though we got Alex’s feelings secondhand through Josh, his emotions were clear. I loved how both characters developed through the story. It was gradual, from BFFs to lovers. The confusion of how they felt at their changing feelings and how they were both afraid to ruin their friendship if either messed up, was well conveyed. Both of the characters are described as bi, had not acted on their attraction to men until this trip. Except for Josh, who once got a blowjob. The worry over having sex with a guy and if they were doing it right came through well. It turns out that Alex is kinky and more experienced because he had a kinky girlfriend.

As I mentioned, I really enjoyed how the characters grew and their adventures on the road. I was all set to give the story five stars until I hit about the half way mark. Then things started to turn too dramatic and unrealistic for me. The guys run into a street gang ready to steal their van and possibly kill then. Then when they get a flat, a man stops and pretends to help only he attempts to kidnap Josh. Finally to top it off, they end up in an accident that sends them to the hospital and ends their road trip. All that happening was too unbelievable and I had to drop the star rating.

Indigo Road was a fast, entertaining read with characters that grew throughout the story. It held my attention until about the half way mark when too many over-the-top dramatic events began to occur. I give this story 4 Stars.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

Noah Walker needs a new job and he is one of the final candidates for his dream opportunity. On his way to the interview, he sees a gorgeous man that he can't help stare at. They exchange looks and end up talking and walking a short bit together when they get off the same tube stop. Aiden invites Noah for a coffee before his interview, but as much as Noah would love to, he says no so he can prepare for his interview. Wouldn't it just be fate when Aiden shows up at the office with coffee to do complete his final interviews...and it is the same one Noah is there for. I loved the circumstances regarding the other applicant (it seemed a bit obvious, but it really made me chuckle).

Aiden had a relationship in the workplace previously that went very poorly at the end. Aiden is determined to keep his interactions with Noah strictly business, but the spark between them and the easy camaraderie and friendship the two develop makes those boundaries blurred. It isn't an easy road for them, but Noah and Aiden are able to find a Happily Ever After that was believable. They had a chemistry together that pulled me in and had me rooting for them. I loved reading about them. I am so glad I got the opportunity to read this book and find a new author. I am really looking forward to the next book. Marcus annoyed me in book 1, so it will be interesting to find more out about him.

As for the title? I absolutely love it. It seems like it has nothing to do with the story itself, but the one place it is inserted in is so dang romantic. It was a perfect way to express the realization of feelings.
