Yannis Karatsioris, Greek born and raised, is 29 years old and lives in Athens, Greece. He has already staged a play, published a fantasy novel in Greek and, after winning with The Book of the Forsaken the gold medal on HarperCollins' competition on authonomy.com, is now making his first steps in the publishing world out of Greece.
His tastes, dark and sarcastic, guide him to a style reminiscent of Neil Gaiman, Douglas Adams, Jonathon Stroud and Mikhail Bulghakoff.

Book source ~ ARC. My review is voluntary and honest.

Three very different guys with supernatural/unusual powers are brought together by some dude to get some weird book. The guy may be a god of some sort? Or maybe just some mythological entity? I have no idea. This story left me scratching my head. A lot. I have no idea what’s going on or why these three were chosen. Well, I can guess why the one was chosen because he’s obviously connected to the book. But other than that I couldn’t say. The book is weird and disjointed and not in a good way. It’s hard to follow and makes even less sense. One of the guys is completely unlikeable. The other two are just ok. The writing is mediocre. I will note that my copy is a few years old, so I have no idea if it’s been revised or not. In any case, I’m not interested in continuing with this series.… (mais)

The Ringmaster's Gambit (The Game, #2) by Yannis Karatsioris

Emilian the Ringmaster and Jaelle the Fortune teller are protecting the circus from evil. The Bringers of Death and Upyri want to kill people, and there is a Magi wanting answers. They are all looking for the Book. Who if anyone will get the book? Who will live, who will die? It's all really just a game and only the strongest will survive.

A fantastic story of mystery, adventure and secrets. Brilliantly told, each chapter starts with a passage from the infamous book. Each chapter is devoted to one character. Some are likable others are not. We meet a lot of new (Characters) and are reunited with some (favorites) from book one.

I really liked the writing style, we get to know each one on a intimate basis, the vivid details are so gripping it pulls the reader into the story as if you were there. I really liked that.

Each page brings adventure and suspense. I feel that lovers of fantasy/adventure will enjoy The Ringmaster's Gambit. Great as a stand alone, but I do suggest book one in the series The Book of the Forsaken

The Book of the Forsaken (The Game, #1) by Yannis Karatsioris

Cassidy, Daniel and Igor are three people thrown together in unusual circumstances. Pretty much social outcasts they find themselves on a quest , a search for a book known as The Book of the Forsaken. Soon these three men are traveling across Europe on an adventure of their lifetime.

A well written unique story. I really liked the three main characters, Cassidy, Daniel & Igor. They all had their own likable qualities, we learn a bit about each character right from the start.

I also liked the way the chapters started with quotes from The Emerald Tablet. It made the story so much more interesting. The vivid details and dialog pulls the reader right into the story, and won't let you go until the very last page.

I highly recommend The Book of the Forsaken to those who love fantasy/adventure. I really enjoyed this story and would like to read more books by Yannis Karatsioris.

The Abyss Wars: The Battle of the Gods (The Chronicles of Arnath, #2)
by Yannis Karatsioris

Grom and Groth are the fortresses of the northern lands of Arnath. They are supposed protect the lands. Vengrul marches against the North and Shantor Jahl and his comrades will soon find out what the Hierophant of Wind has planed for them. It is apparent that war is inevitable and that the land of Arnath is in dire danger. A battle begins and it becomes a fight to the end.

A well written action/adventure/fantasy. I liked the story line, the mystical creatures, good and bad. There is a lot of action, there is death, betrayal and sacrifices that will be made. A fascinating ending to the story of the Abyss Wars. I recommend The Abyss Wars: The Battle of the Gods to those who love adventure/fantasy.
