Nancy Davidoff Kelton does an excellent job of covering all the bases. The chapters are short and to the point. Her advice and the exercises are very helpful.
I especially loved the examples of her students. I realize the goal of the book is to turn your personal work into profit. That's not were I'm going with my personal writing, but her advice is great even if you are not writing to sell.

This is the story about Harriet Tubman who grew up as a slave. She sent to work for at a neighboring farm and was beaten repeatedly. She was made to work very hard. She was sent back to her original owner’s farm and was made to work even harder in the fields. She got knocked in the head when she tried to help her friend escape. After she recovered, she got the courage to runaway herself. She ran away and finally got to Philadelphia and to freedom. That wasn’t enough for her and she went back nineteen times and helped all of her family and friends as well as many other slaves to escape to freedom.

This book would be a good book to use during a Pre-Civil War history lesson on slavery, and how the Underground Railroad worked and functioned.
