Donna and her best friend Deke are on a cruise with their families while a dangerous flu breaks out across the world, leaving the infected in a zombie-like state. When it hits the ship, Donna and Deke are lucky to make it to the dock with their lives. Amidst the deserted city they find a group of their schoolmates--including Donna's crush, Liam--sheltering in the school and they join them.

Donna has to deal with zombies, crushes--by her and on her, and finding a way to reunite with her father and Deke's grandmother so they can ride out the flu in safety on a cruise ship of their own.

This book was actually rather adorable. Donna and friends had sensible plans for surviving the zombie apocalypse, the crushes were realistic but didn't dominate the book, and on the whole it was a lot of fun to read.
