Mr. See-More Says "Look Inside" por Lucy Kincaid
What's Inside -- a hole in a bank, a hole in a tree, pod, bubble, nest, larder, nut, cocoon, poppy, apple, flower. orange, onion.
The beautiful illustrations by Eric Kincaid make the story from William Shakespeare’s play very enjoyable for children. I wish however, that the name of the person who adapted the story was listed.
My aunt used to own a copy of this book, and one of my favorite memories is flipping through the pages at her house. The illustrations are magical and shaped my dreams and fantasies as a child, and the poetry is some of the best children's poetry ever written. The first poems I ever memorized were in this book, including "The Sugar-Plum Tree" and "The Duel," both by Eugene Field.
Summary: This book is a collection of more than 150 traditional children’s poems and rhymes. Each story has a nice picture accompanying it.
Personal Reaction: This a great treasury of classic children’s poems. I think that it would be a great book to have in a personal collection.
Extension Ideas: The teacher could read one poem per day throughout the school year, and by the end of the year, student will have be exposed to a lot of classic stories. Student readers could also pick a favorite to read to the group, and then students could create a drawing or other artwork illustrating the story.… (mais)
