Delia is this genius when it comes to numbers and one day she finds some discrepancies in her office accounts so she starts to question things, things certain people want to keep hidden. She is attacked and robbed and the one person she has been in love with for years is assigned to her case, Matteo. Matteo is a hardworking detective that takes his job seriously and sometimes forgets what it is like to sympathize with others and Delia doesn’t hesitate to let him know that. The attraction between these two is strong but outside forces are trying to hunt Delia down and stop her from exposing their scheme. This was a great read that was full of action, steam, suspense, and love. I loved this book and can’t wait to read more.… (mais)

So much love for this book! I've loved all of Kincaid's Pine Mountain titles so far, but this one by far the most. Troubled, wounded hero meets (again) troubled, similarly wounded heroine. Lots of healing of all sorts takes place, including ...sexual healing, of course--it is a romance, after all. But it also handles emotional and physical pain and recovery, as well as drug addiction and childhood abuse--and for that matter, though it may not have been an intentional parallel, there's no denying that a difficult work environment can be an abusive relationship as well.

The trials that they faced felt very authentic, as did their ways of dealing with them. Yes, the main conflict could have been avoided if they'd sat down and talked about it, but sometimes that just doesn't happen. They did do an excellent job communicating otherwise, so I don't count it against the story overall.

All in all, I totally loved it and would recommend it all over the place. While it involves couples from previous books, it stands alone very nicely--the backstory of the couples is nice, but not necessary to follow the story, and the plot is self contained within the pages of this book.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! Emmett and Sofia love affair tended to be rocky a first as the man teased her with glee and she struggled with passing her boards in Ortho as it went over her head. Sofia hated the holidays in December as her dad was killed by a drunk driver. Before he died she promised him that she would become a doctor, and she just had to pass her boards for her dream became true. Doctor Emmett Mallory, Sofia's teacher did not realized that his teasing of her went awry, until they were both stuck in an elevator until they talked as there was nothing left to do. I liked that he apologized and told her that she was a brilliant student, and that he liked her.… (mais)

As a huge fan of Grey's Anatomy, I loved this book! I felt like I was reading a book version of the show. The hustle and bustle of the life of a surgeon was beautifully displayed as well as the emotional attachments of Natalie along with the cast of doctors and nurses that she works with. Natalie and Jonah's story is different yet has a hint of a cliche. It's different because of Natalie's sheltered background--at first, I really struggled with the fact that she was a 32 year old virgin but her rationale did make a tiny bit of sense even if I felt that it was a bit far fetched. It's a complete cliche that Jonah is a player and that the quintessential player falls in love with the virgin who by no fault of her own becomes his temporary roommate. A sweet friends to lovers romance complete with a swoony worthy book boyfriends and comic relief in the form of Connor.

Although speaking of Connor, I struggled a bit with the epilogue changing to his POV. It is a terrific lead in to his book which I presume is the next book in the series, but I wanted to hear more from Jonah especially in light of what Natalie was enduring. How is she coping? How is she surviving both physically and mentally? Connor's POV the reader on gets a fraction of it. The epilogue is more Connor focused.
