I LOVE Arthurian legend books. So fantastic. This one was beautifully done with wonderfully done characters that were easily placed into the legend. The BEST part about the book was her grandma Bizzy. It actually kept me on my toes enough to separate from the books world to the legend. My only issue was that it felt so slow. The pacing was great at the end and the beginning. The middle was what killed it for me.

This book was a pleasant surprise for me, I thought it was going to be pretty much like all of the other ya fantasy I'd read recently; stilted dialogue, shallow characters, and teenage drama used as a crutch for a story that couldn't stand on it's own. I'll be the first to admit I was wrong. The story is based on Arthurian legend, and I thought it was done very well. It was original, and the characters had different personalities! *applause* (Lizzy's mom was my favorite.)
I may have to read it again to see if it's as good as I thought it was. You know, when something surpasses your prejudiced expectations it can seem better than it actually is, but for now, this rating/review stands.

1/13/15: Found this book for $3.49 at Hastings and had to buy it for myself!! It was a book that helped me out of a horrible reading rut that almost ended my recreational reading....Still haven't reread, but it has a special place in my heart!

Very interesting, and pretty funny. The story is completely orignal and kept me reading for hours straight.

Lizzy has a vision of her friends death Halloween morning of her 14th birthday. Her grandmother Bizzy tells her that this is normal in her family and that these are special powers that can be seen as a curse or as a blessing. Upon further research it is discovered they are the descendants of Morgan Le Fey and they are caught in a feud between her and Vivienne.

So I loved the unique take on the Arthur myth. It was creative and unexpected and I am curious as to how the other parts of the myth will come into play in future volumes. That being said I do feel that Lizzy just behaved a little bit too young most of the book and sometimes I found her a little babyish or babyish than she needed to be.
