"Back Channel to Cuba" is a timely book, as the United States is on the path to normalizing relations with Cuba after over 50 years. While some have objected to Obama's initiatives toward Cuba as a break with a long established foreign policy, this book points out that similar initiatives have been made by virtually every U.S. Administration going all the way back to Eisenhower. We rarely heard much about most of those initiatives, but this book provides details of those diplomatic steps, and the reasons for the past failures over those years.
