Old book from a TBR subscription box. Pulled from the shelf randomly but ideal to kick off spooky season with this short ghost story.

Sad, mysterious, and quite lovely.

I know this author’s adult book Yerba Buena is popular now and after this I’m looking forward to picking that one up.

I am on a roll reading sad books without plots. Blergh. At least this one had a hook: Marin runs away from home and is super depressed, but why? We know pretty early on that she's was raised by her Gramps and he passed away. But it doesn't quite explain Marin's level of freak out. She abandons everything, flies across the country and spends weeks alone in a motel. The story is told through flashbacks and it's gradually revealed why Marin is suffering.

This is an atmospheric, lyrical book about loneliness. I did not really enjoy it, but I think I see why the Printz committee picked it.… (mais)

Everything Leads to You is a sweet f/f romance with a bit of mystery, a vulnerable and lovable main character, and a great behind the scenes look at set design for movies. My one quibble is how much older than her age Emi seems, living nearly independently and fully employed in the movies despite just graduating high school. I‘ve discovered that I love Jorjeana Marie narrating first person YA narrators in audiobooks. Here she lends Emi the little extra innocence she needs to add realism.

* I got this book for review*
This book was so cute. It was such a cute read and i loved the diversity of so many of the characters in this story. It def gave me vanderbekkers of 141 street vibe and was so focsued on found family. I thought the main character was fun and think it is great start for new readers for smaller chapter books!! I enjoyed this one and would def read more in the future
