The pages provide an extensive range of garments such as skirts, pants, dresses, shirts, jackets and even underwear.
Although less atteactive in comparison to other techniques, flat drawings allow you to get your ideas on paper as inspiration strikes and the catalogue style of this book lets you put together basic outfits with ease.
A simple idea, but a great resourse.
Another use I have for this book is as a type of photofit resourse that clients can flick through, pointing to basic design choices they may otherwise be unable to verbalise to the designer. This I think is its greatest strength; as an aid to communication between client and designer.
I will just add that although some of the articles of clothing could be uni-sex, the book does appear to be aimed at clothing the female form (wider hips, darts etc.). This is not apparent from the books title, nore does their seem to be a male counterpart to this book. The other book in this series titled 'Essential Fashion Illustration: Men' only contains 17 pages of like drawings of clothing in a more masculin style and can not be considered a male counterpart to this book.… (mais)
