This gained the 4 star rating because it kept me turning the pages past my bedtime. I also really liked the ‘heroes’ of this novel and the narrative played out in my mind like I was bingeing a Shetland/ Rebus TV crime series (complete with wonderful Scottish accents).
This is the first in a series featuring DS Max Craigie.

A good read if I hadn't read the first in the series so soon previously.
A fisherman and a cop are found dead looking like suicide but both are intraped by drug supply that goes high up the police hierarchy

A terminal old top level criminal is searching his family history. He is murdered by an equally old demented man that renews 200 year old family war. The 3 criminal sons want revenge and surprisingly want the police to investigate.
Good plot and execution of the novel.

As the cover suggests, Jack Reacher meets Line of Duty! Max Craigie works in an anti-corruption unit in Edinburgh and his wife, an immigration lawyer has an Albanian teenage client, trafficked to the UK, who goes missing suddenly. It soon becomes clear there is an overlap with Albanian Organised Crime being targeted and that there are serious high-level police leaks. Entertaining dialogue.
