A good but patchy, uneven biography. Some parts were covered in great detail, others not so much. I got the feeling it was aimed at British readers, and made an assumption that you'd read Sturt's journals, which I haven't, not yet. It did nonetheless fuel my desire to know more about the history of the Murray valley as a place in itself, rather than a border feature of Victoria/NSW.
