Tokyo Builds A Garden is about a boy named Tokyo who misses the wildlife and agriculture that was once prominent in Japan. He lives in a modern-day Era that is filled with lots of technology and noise. One day, an old woman gives Tokyo three seeds and tells him that they will grow into “whatever you wish”. So, in return he takes those three seeds to his backyard and creates a whole garden that just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Eventually it gets to the point where his garden overruns the City and wild animals start to inhibit it. But when the Grandfather tries to reason with Tokyo, Tokyo says to him that “people will just have to get used to it” as they gaze side by side upon the surreal beauty his garden has brought to the City. I think that the moral of this story was a nod to protecting the environment, and making sure that our technological advancements never outshine what Mother Nature has already provided us with.… (mais)
