Michael Leach is editor-at-large and publisher emeritus of Orbis Books. A leader in religion book publishing for five decades, he has edited and published more than three thousand books. His authors include Nobel Prize winners, National Book Award winners, and hundreds of Catholic Book Award winners. He has served as president of the Catholic Book Publishers Association, the ecumenical Religion Publishers Group, and the PAGL Foundation. Before joining Orbis as publisher in 1997 Michael was president of the Crossroad Publishing Company, and earlier of the Continuum Publishing Corporation which he helped found in 1979. He served as vice president and senior editor of The Seabury Press from 1969 to 1979. Dubbed "the dean of Catholic book publishing" by U.S. Catholic magazine, he has also authored or edited several books of his own.

This book is a disappointment. It is not about embracing orthodoxy - the beauty of Roman Catholicism. It's about proposing something better than that which has existed for thousands of years, which has evolved over 2000 years. It's about descent. It proposes humanism – making the mores of popular culture the norm for Catholicism. The book would seem to be a good sampler of the culture of dissent against the Catholic Church even though it is not forthrightly expressed. It’s one redeeming quality is its numerous short stories of faithful Catholics.… (mais)

B&W photos and short quotes from various people attributed to be Catholic. Some are now disputable (Madonna, Schwazenegger). Most of the content are reflections from laypeople. For that reason, this complilation is very good, having been originally published in 2000.
