Irven Lee (1914–1991)

This is a memoir, published in 1975, of Lee's then forty-year-plus preaching career. After beginning with a chapter on his early life, succeeding chapters take a decade-by-decade approach to his career. Of particular value are his chapters on the 1950s and 1960s, which provide important details about the on-the-ground aspect of the split over institutions in the Churches of Christ. Also of value is Lee's lengthy examination of the issues involved in that split. Lee is gracious toward those on the institutional side of the divide, yet firm in his convictions.… (mais)
