I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would! I liked it a lot more than Year One, though that one was still good. I loved all the different art, the styles were so drastically different between each issue! The first issue’s art done by Jeff Lemire had some really interesting art choices that played around with the traditional “comic panel” form, which I enjoyed. That story certainly showed me a different side of Alfred I hadn’t seen before. The second story was a really neat look into how thoroughly Batman thinks out his plans and possible encounters. I also really enjoyed the story with Two Face as it delved more into how tragic Batman’s rogue gallery is and how Batman grows to understand them but still must continue to stop them, sometimes even saving them from themselves. Of course the Joker also has a prominent role in a couple of the stories, but being able to see Harvey Dent was nice. The story with Robin where they stop a crime before it happens was also really good. I loved how it showed off yet another side of Batman in wanting to instill fear as a deterrent and in wanting to actually help criminals turn their lives around because he truly understands what it’s like to come from a place of darkness.… (mais)

I remember working at a comic book store during the hugely long hiatus between issues 2 and 3 of this series. It was a running joke that the series would never be finished. So it's interesting seeing the first 2 issues summarized again in the 3rd one and the self-referential comments about the time-delay. Beyond that, the story was interesting - I'm always a fan of smart Hulk.

How disappointing. Small bits are good, but after 15 minutes I was sure the reveal would be indescribably stupid.

Hmmm, well the list I have of the Ultimate reading order was way off in putting this so early. Forge's presence was the big tip-off for that.

From watching 'Lost' I already knew that Lindelof has no talent for character. I mean, come on, how many people watched that show for the characterization and their interpersonal involvements? We watched that show for the mysteries and the setting. I've come to terms with just how mediocre that show ended, but the mystery was great while it lasted.

Here in 'Wolverine vs. Hulk', Lindelof has the opportunity to prop up two of Marvel's most popular, but tired, properties. I give him some credit for not using the word 'bub', but for everything else I was more than a little bored. He didn't do anything different to the characters other than throwing Banner a philosophical ball. How he went from meditating to keeping a harem was never mentioned. For Hulk not to have torn those girls in half he'd have to be, proportionally, tiny. Think about it. I had to.

The in-story tie-ins about Star Trek just seemed like unnecessary cross promotion too. He probably had to physically restrain himself form referring to She-hulk as an Orion slave girl. Still, it was entertaining enough. The way the fights were broken up and by avoiding linear storytelling he kept me interested, barely.
