Introduction to a four-star series, though by itself it doesn't have much plot. Keira is one of the first teenagers admitted to the Society for the Preservation of Magical Arts and spends some days just studying the artefacts in the Museum. Lots of clever ideas for new toys! She'll use some of these things on her adventures, of course.

In book four, we saw the now group of seven be kids again with one of them losing control and disciplined and the fate was in the teachers hands. Olin had barely survived when his parents' lack of skills. Graduation is getting close and their final test did not allow magic but to trust in the lessons they had learned. I, truly felt like Jacob when all he could do was wait with the others, not knowing who would pass and who would fail. Now, ON TO BOOK FIVE!!

I liked that the eight students put aside their competitive nature and learned to work together, to help their friends, and trust their natural instincts in order to graduate. As their confident grew, they learned to use their magic to overcome fears and pettiness as they faced one threat after another. As I never read book one, I was confused at first and I would not want to be a student in their class.
