Books, Bodies and Bibliomania. The importance of thinking, writing and reading. Theories of reading refer to the different ways that scholars and educators have approached the study and teaching of reading. Some of the key areas of focus in theories of reading include the psychological and cognitive processes involved in reading, the social and cultural contexts in which reading takes place, and the ways in which reading can impact individuals and society.

One area of focus in theories of reading is the role that books play in the reading process. Books are a key medium for the transmission of knowledge and ideas, and the act of reading a book involves a complex set of psychological and cognitive processes. Scholars have studied the ways in which readers engage with texts, the strategies they use to comprehend and retain information, and the ways in which reading can affect their understanding of the world and their own identity.

Another area of focus in theories of reading is the role of the body in the reading process. The body is involved in many aspects of reading, from the physical act of holding a book and turning its pages, to the ways in which reading can affect our emotional and physiological responses. Scholars have studied the ways in which the body's position and movements can impact reading comprehension, as well as the ways in which reading can affect our physical and emotional well-being.

Bibliomania, or an extreme love of books, is another area of focus in theories of reading. Bibliomania has been described as a kind of obsession with collecting and owning books, and has been the subject of study in fields such as psychology and sociology. Scholars have examined the ways in which bibliomania can be both a positive and negative force, and have explored the social, cultural, and psychological factors that may contribute to this love of books.
