This was a pleasant and really, really, reeeeeaaallyyy HOT read.
I only wish there was some kind of epilogue... but further then than I have no complaints.

The only reason I could finish reading this novel is because it's generally well-written, but I wish it had gotten a better editor. It jerked me back and forth between good and flawed until I was unable to maintain any trust in the outcome. A huge factor is their avoidance of communication of long-held feelings. I hate this trope. Even though this book is free, I'd have avoided it had I realized this would drag on for most of the text. There IS a reason for her fear. (His is less compelling.) Her scene's very good. But I suffered to get there and I still resent it, and in fact further revelation tells me that were this real life, they're doomed to screw this up. I don't believe their HEA.

The sex scenes are overly long, every time, and don't need to be except for the first one when it's all new. Maybe, had the author reined it in a bit, we could've avoided the heroine's reference to her WOMB during one. (That's a medical emergency. Wombs are never involved in sex scenes. Never.)

This is supposedly a siblings series. I couldn't tell you how many there are after reading this, I only saw one other. (There are 5 books.) Thing is, about siblings, mine influenced how I deal with people the rest of my life. Evan is aggressively mean to his brother for not being like him, which is ugly. My mother would've nipped that in the bud early on.

I own book 2 because Brian looks way more interesting than Evan. Time will tell whether that conflict's as flat as the sib trope or if it's a clue. Wish me good luck.

For me, this one is much better than book 1, specifically because Brian's a better person than Evan is. By the end of this one Evan is less an ass. I liked this plot better, the way Brian and Candace each have shit to work through. In particular, I adore Brian's tenacity. This is a story of a man who's bettered himself but remains all too aware of his flaws, and a woman who has to stand her ground with her family and with this man she loves before she can grow into the woman he needs.

There were two extraneous sex scenes, wasted space in the plot. Is there some number of these per book the publisher required or something? This aspect's exactly the same as the first book.

As I doubt the author can top Brian as a character, I can be done with this series now.

Good, but not quite as good as the other two in this series. Would have liked a little less rehashing of the same thing over and over and maybe a little more plot.
